confessions of a youth pastor's wife

the frustrations, joys, excitements, disappointments, and everything in between.

This morning, Aubrey decided to wake Jason and I up with her loud screaming at 4:30 in the morning. As I went over to her crib, I gave her a kiss and rocked her side by side and led her to our room. Usually a good rocking and her binky does the trick to soothe her back to sleep, but this wasn’t the case. The half hour turned to an hour and a half of non-stop crying. Finally, a good warm bottle of milk was the answer to her deep cries. Unfortunately it gave Jason a very horrible migraine. But I thought since Aubrey went back to sleep, it did the trick for me to head off to work without any worry. After around 10:30 at work, I decided to surf the net, only to find Jason’s facebook status that Aubrey ended up crying right as I left to go to work. I called the poor fellow and right when he picked up, the first thing I heard was a screaming child. The second thing I heard was my poor faint husband who was trying his best to keep his composure. I don’t know what Aubrey was doing, and it was not like her to cry for 2-3 hours straight. So I made the call and decided to head back home. Called the doctors to see if I could take her in, but ended up with everything being booked up. Eventually a nurse gave a call and explained that my screaming child was having symptoms of teething.

How wonderful. So they gave us recommendations on how to ease her pain and discomfort. As I got home, she was still fussy, and her poor little face had two little bags under her small eyes. My husband was lethargic and had barely any energy to hand her to me. So after rocking her for 30mins, she fell asleep. By this time daddy and Aubs were sleeping for a good hour.

The rest of the day seemed fine, minus Jason’s migraine, but after picking up some medicine for him, some pedialite for Aubrey, things were looking up. We went to the groceries and got jars of applesauce baby food. I’m so proud to say that Aubrey ate a whole jar today. 1/2 at lunch and 1/2 at dinner. The day was going well and Aubrey was feeling less cranky. I felt that the day was ending JUST right only to end in disappointment. As I was planning to give her a bath, I stripped her down naked and had her stand so I could pick her up as I was sitting on the floor. The moment she got up on her feet, lo and behold I felt something very warm on the crotch of my pants. Aubrey was so kind in giving me a bath of her own with some of her fresh pee. The best part of it all was that she decided to have her pee land right on my crotch which looked like I had a massive accident. I don’t know why, but this is the fourth time she peed on me. What’s funny is that she never peed on Jason once. She must have some inclination when it comes to peeing and being with her mom. I like to think that she’s excited to be with me to the point that she can’t hold her bladder. It’s a long shot, but I’m trying to be positive and optimistic here :)

Now it’s about nine and Aubrey usually likes to sleep around 9:30 or even 10. Today, she decided to sleep at 8:35. It’s one of those strange out of sync days, but looking back at the busyness of it all, it was quite memorable.

Tomorrow should be back to our normal schedule…and hopefully with no accidental showers. :)
