1 John 3:21-24
21Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God 22and receive from him anything we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases him. 23And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. 24Those who obey his commands live in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.
I guess I’ve been so busy with my own thoughts and desires. It took me way too long to actually finish this chapter.
What pleases God? To give a cliche/obvious answer, it would be love. But what is love? What is God’s love?
I think it comes in many ways
1. For the betterment of others
2. When you rebuke others (tough love). Sometimes, they need to hear it
3. Grace given to them in hopes that they will follow the right path
4. Encouragement through kind words
5. Encouragement through reality checks
6. Trusting others
7. Forgiving others
8. Going out of your way for others
9. Spending genuine time
10. Sacrificing
The list could go on, but I should just focus on these and learn how to love others with just this ten for now. I think I’ll have a hard time with this list…
Lord,
Help me to love like you and to give my heart to those who love you and even don’t love you. Help me to be a better wife, friend, and family member. I also pray that you will be with Jason as he recovers from his sickness. I pray that you will be with him and give him the strength that he needs as he prepares his sermon. I also pray that you will be with our family. God, I would like to have a child, but Lord, help me to depend on you and your time.
Be with us as we look forward to your glory.
Amen
